Aequora at Naval Academy Primary School

At the Naval Academy Primary School, we are proud to partner with The Paideia Institute and offer Aequora as an after-school program. Aequora is a K-8 curriculum focusing on literacy education via Latin. Led by independent site coordinators, Aequora has expanded to over 40 sites in 16 states.

At the Naval Academy Primary School, we have chosen Aequora because we believe in the benefits of a classical education. Through The Paideia Institute's Aequora curriculum, we harness the classical languages’ power to improve literacy while making the ancient mediterranean world fun and accessible to students of all backgrounds.

The Naval Academy Primary School offers a variety of enrichment programs after school. This year we started offering a Latin class for one hour every Tuesday using the Aequora materials. Ten students have joined the class, grades 3-5. Click on the button below to support us!

Gabrielle Bruestle has been teaching in elementary schools across the country for ten years. Gabrielle was sent to learn Latin so that she could begin a Latin program at a school in Southern California in 2012. So she took a summer intensive at the University College of Cork in Ireland, and loved it. A fellow Latin teacher recommended Aequora when Gabrielle mentioned needing a curriculum for students learning in an enrichment format (id est, only once a week). Aequora was perfect! Students get very excited over making connections between Latin and English and finding Roman history so fun and fascinating!
