Gap Year Program Description

Paideia runs a year-long, gap year program in both our Rome and New York City offices. This program is designed to provide students with meaningful experiences working for the Paideia Institute in the year between high school and college. Paideia seeks students who are enthusiastic about the classical humanities and wish to gain experience working in a dynamic nonprofit environment. Paideia program alumni are especially encouraged to apply.

Gap Year in Rome

The gap year student based in Paideia's office in Rome will work on curriculum development for our Classical Tours and content curation for our digital humanities projects. Paideia will also provide the student with educational opportunities to learn about the eternal city of Rome alongside Paideia's Rome Fellows. The gap year student will be under the supervision of Eric Hewett, Executive Director.

Paideia arranges Italian lessons and a home-stay for the gap year student.

Gap Year in New York City

The gap year student based in Paideia's office in Brooklyn will work on outreach and development projects under the supervision of Liz Butterworth, Director of Development. The student will also have the opportunity to be a site coordinator for one of the local Aequora sites, teaching Latin and providing mentorship to under-privileged students.

Housing is not provided.
