Friends of the Paideia Institute are invited to join us on the evening of Saturday, January 6th during the SCS 2018 Annual Meeting for a performance of Joe's Odyssey, followed by drinks and festivities. The performance will begin around 8 pm, and guests are encouraged to stay afterward to continue mingling. The event will take place at Make Shift Boston, located at 549 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02118 - just steps away from the SCS Annual Meeting.

Joe Goodkin's Odyssey is a 30 minute original musical composition for solo acoustic guitar and voice consisting of 24 original songs with lyrics inspired by Odysseus' famous exploits. Drawing on his Bachelor's Degree in Classics/Ancient Greek from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Joe's performance represents in a contemporary musical mode both the abridged plot and the performance circumstances of Homer's original oral composition of The Odyssey. His performance invokes the spirit of the ancient Greek bards who originally brought forth the timeless stories of Odysseus and the heroes of the Trojan War. Joe has performed his Odyssey over 230 times in 33 US states and Canada, including as a guest of Classics Departments at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Duke, and many more. To learn more, please visit his page on our website.

Tickets paid in advance cost $10, or $15 at the door. Cash or card will be accepted. To be guaranteed a spot, please RSVP below.
