Beginning Students: Foundations for Latin Units 1-5

Course Description: This class is for students who are brand new to the Elementa curriculum. Students will have the chance to explore the language, culture, and mythology of the ancient Romans as they complete Units 1-5 of the Elementa Foundations for Latin student workbook. This course focuses on the connections between Latin and other languages by exploring English derivatives and establishing a foundational understanding of parts of speech.

Instructor

Bert Schewel

Bertram has been studying the Classical languages for over 14 years and has taught and tutored Latin at all levels. He earned his Ph.D. in Classical Studies from Fordham University in 2022, and currently serves as Academic Coordinator and Adjunct Professor of Classics at the College of Charleston.
