Irving Finkel: The First Ghosts: Most Ancient of Legacies
This talk, illustrated with a PowerPoint, will consider the world's earliest evidence for the presence of ghosts in human life, drawing on a wide range of cuneiform sources from ancient Mesopotamia. We will discover what happened to the dead, where they went, when they came back and how Babylonian ghost experts got rid of them-or even sometimes called them up to divulge the future. At the same time we will ruminate on the matter of ghosts in general.
