Atticus and Cicero: Intermediate-High Spoken Latin Reading

Course Description

Course Description: Ready to jump into Cicero, the gold standard for good Latin, but nervous to tackle it for the first time? Or have you read “the usual” works, but want to get better acquainted with Cicero the human being, not merely the politician and philosopher? In this course we’ll read selections from Cornelius’ Nepos Life of Atticus, and Cicero’s Letters, to try to get a fuller view of the famous orator through his communications with his best friend Atticus and discuss them entirely in Latin. Students will be provided a reading list early in the course and will be encouraged to prepare the texts ahead of time, but not required Level: Intermediate-Advanced. Textbook: Instructor will provide materials
