Program Overview
Telepaideia is a broad collection of online courses, offered by the Institute in 10-week semesters three times a year (Fall, Spring, and Summer terms). These live classes are each designed and led by a dedicated teacher from the Paideia community and are taught in small groups of approximately five or fewer. Students can select and directly enroll in Telepaideia courses on a wide range of topics related to Latin, Greek, and the Classical humanities, according to both their personal interests and previous learning experiences. Course offerings change from semester to semester, but generally include language classes (at various levels and intensities), reading classes, and classes dedicated to intellectual history and Classical reception.
Fall 2024 Semester
Our Fall 2024 term runs for ten weeks of classes with a one week break chosen by the Instructor. If not otherwise specified in the course description, Fall 2024 Courses run from September 29th to December 14th.
The priority enrollment deadline for Fall Telepaideia is September 22nd, 2024. For more details about course format, letters of completion, scholarships, and the cancellation policy, please see the Terms and Conditions below.
Terms and Conditions
Registering
Please enroll by September 22nd, a week before the term begins, to allow for best administrative set-up. Sign-ups after this date will still be accepted. However, if your enrollment comes in too close to the start of classes, there is a chance it might not be processed in time for you to attend the first meeting.
If the course you would like to take is sold-out, please fill out this waiting-list form. We will notify you if a spot becomes available.
Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions prior to registering.
Course Format
Telepaideia classes are taught online in small groups. Unless otherwise specified in the course listing, Telepaideia classes run with even one student sign-up, and are generally capped at five students.
Most class meetings last one hour. Classes that meet for one hour and twenty minutes will be marked accordingly in the listing (this applies primarily to some of our "intensive" courses).
Telepaideia courses run through Google Meet. Information about Google Meet technology and instructions on how to join the classes will be emailed to students the week before the start of the class.
Cancellation Policy
Telepaideia tuition is non-refundable. However, if you need to cancel your enrollment or withdraw from your class, you may be eligible for a 50% credit, to be used toward a future Telepaideia course. In order to be eligible for this credit, you must notify [email protected] of your withdrawal before the second class meeting has taken place.
Letters of Completion
If you need official proof of your participation in Telepaideia, you may request a certificate of completion. To do so, please write to [email protected] once the term has ended, cc-ing your course instructor.
Scholarships
If you would like to take a Telepaideia course, but cannot afford it, limited scholarships are available. Please apply to the Reginald Foster Fund, describing which course you would like to take (title, instructor, meeting schedule). Scholarship applications received by September 22nd will receive best consideration.
