Teach Literacy with Latin
The Aequora program is sustained by enthusiastic volunteers all over the country who care about making a difference and want to fight educational inequality through sharing their love of Latin. Our many volunteers allow us to work with students in small groups and create democratic, collaborative working environments. Many of our after-school sites are run by high school or undergraduate volunteers.
We work with school leaders, librarians and other community partners to bring Latin to their students and patrons. It is our sincere mission to promote the study of the classical humanities, especially by individuals who have been historically disallowed from doing so. Studies show that familiarity with Latin improves literacy outcomes.
