Course Description: In this course we will survey and discuss the history of the Roman republic from the First Punic War to the 'late' republic. The common (base) text will be Ward, Heichelheim, Yeo: 'A History of the Roman People.' We will also read passages from the relevant historians of the Punic Wars and middle and late republic in translation or other works as interest on specific topics arises.

Level: This course is open to teachers, and history enthusiasts. Readings, from either the basic texts or from primary sources, will be assigned in order to lead our weekly discussion.
Textbook: Ward/Heichelheim/Yeo 'A History of the Roman People'; Polybius: the Rise of the Roman Empire (Penguin edition).

Albert Requejo
Albert holds degrees (BA-PhD) in Classics (University of Washington, Seattle) and is especially interested in historiography and the history of Rome through its original sources. He currently teaches High School Latin (levels 1 through A.P.) and Greek in and from the Atlanta area.
