Gene is one of Paideia's Classical Tour Managers. He received his B.A. in Classics from the University of California, Berkeley in May of 2013. He participated in Living Latin in Rome in 2013 and Living Greek in Greece in 2012 and 2013, and Living Latin in Paris in 2013. He was Paideia's Rome Fellow for 2013-2014. He is currently a visiting student in Germany, though he hopes to continue his education back in Rome.

Program Manager
Claire Burgess is one of Paideia's Classical Tour Managers. She has a BA in Art History from UC Berkeley, and though she did her thesis work on Romantic illustration, her heart lies with Hellenistic Greek sculpture. She currently lives in Paris, and when she's not overseeing fabulous school trips to Italy and Greece, she is most likely to be found in the Louvre or a creative writing workshop. Claire also edits Paideia's art blog.

Ilias Kolokouris

Instructor, Telepaideia
Ilias Kolokouris is a Ph.D. student in Classics at the University of Athens. He holds a ptychion in Ancient Greek and Latin Literature, and a Master's Degree in teaching Modern Greek as a foreign language. His thesis was on the tragic elements found in Aristophanes’ Acharnians. Ilias has taught for the University of Missouri Creative Writing Seminars on Serifos, for the Modern Greek Language Centre of the University of Athens and for Paideia’s Living Greek in Greece program. He is currently interested in the reception of ancient Greek literature within modern Greek poetry.

Logan has a B.A. in Classical Studies from Boston College, with interests in Latin and Greek prosody, Renaissance humanistic literature, and modern reception of classical literature. His senior thesis investigated a group of pen drawings in a syllogistic manuscript of Italian humanist Giovanni Marchanova. As an undergraduate, he helped develop a museum exhibit, featuring Roman artifacts of the Late Antique, that appeared at Yale University Art Gallery and Boston College in 2014-15. His is an alumnus of Living Latin in Rome (2014), Living Latin in Paris (2014), and Living Latin in New York City (2015). After the Fellowship, he intends to pursue graduate study in Classics.

Emma Schmidt

Emma has a B.A. in Classics from Yale University, where she wrote a thesis on Vitruvius's De Architectura and its influence on later architectural theorists. She is interested in investigating the intersection of Classics and Architecture, and enjoys Archaeology too. She spent each of her summers during college in Rome, doing a range of activities from working on an archaeological dig to participating in Living Latin in Rome to doing independent research--she's also catalogued the best gelato spots in Rome!

Jim McGlone

Rome Fellow '15-'16
James McGlone is a native of Boonton, NJ, and an alumnus of Living Latin in Rome 2014. Graduating from Harvard this May with a degree in History and a secondary focus in Classics, he wrote his senior thesis on the political thought of St. Augustine. Most of his great loves are family affairs, from the Irish music he likes to play with his five siblings to the fondness for Newman, Belloc, Chesterton, and all things medieval that he likes to share with his grandfather over a cup of tea.
