Euripides' Iphigenia at Aulis

Euripides' Iphigenia at Aulis

Course Description: The Greek army is ready to sail to Troy, but there is no wind to sail with. The army is stuck at Aulis until a prophecy comes that Agamemnon must sacrifice his daughter, Iphigenia, for the winds to blow. Euripides' play Iphigenia at Aulis tells the story of the events leading up to her sacrifice: the ruse Agamemnon uses to get her to Aulis, Clytemnestra’s desperate attempt to save her daughter, and Iphigenia’s fear and courage in the face of an unimaginable fate.
