Course Description: Early in book 6 of Homer's Iliad, two heroes meet on the field of battle and end up engaging in a legendary conversation, wherein the generations of all mortals are compared to those of leaves in the wind. This passage also gives us Glaucus' indomitable maxim, Ever to Excel, a favorite motto of both Cicero and many institutions the world over.
In this Greek reading course, we will cover part of book 5 and the majority of book 6 of the Iliad, a little less than 600 lines or so. While this is an ongoing Homeric reading group, new participants are always most welcome.
