Origen's De Principiis

Origen's De Principiis

Course Description: Origen, at the age of 45, wrote his Περὶ Ἀρχῶν in order to systematically treat of God, theology, nature, and scriptural interpretation. Although most of his Greek has been lost to history, Rufinus' translation of the text has been preserved. In this course, we will read Latin selections from Rufinus' translation of Origen, focusing on books I and IV.
