Evelien Bracke: Teaching Classics for social justice at primary schools in Europe: kids’ play?!
For the past thirteen years, I have built up experience teaching Latin and ancient Greek to children from deprived backgrounds at primary schools, first in the UK and then in Belgium. In this presentation, I will first introduce the social context and practical setting of my projects, in order to contextualize pedagogic choices I have made in the courses we offer. Next, I will focus on the didactic approach I have developed throughout the years, with a focus on intercultural empowerment and linguistic equity.
